Chevy took a breather the next two years, with no mechanical developments and only bulkier sheetmetal for '51, followed by element trim revisions for '52. Yet Chevy remained "USA-1" for both years. The '51 complete was 1.23 million to Ford's 1.01 million. Though the Corvette sports activities car was Chevy's huge news for '53, passenger models received a serious facelift. The underside-end Special collection was retitled One-Fifty, DeLuxe turned Two-Ten, and Bel Air was utilized to a full range of fashions as the brand new top of the line. Higher compression brought the Blue Flame Six to 108 bhp with handbook transmission or a hundred and Trucking destinations fifteen bhp with Powerglide. The figures were 115/125 for 1954, when styling grew to become a bit flashier. Chevy continued to set the manufacturing tempo. With battle restrictions over, quantity soared to over 1.3 million units for '53 and to near 1.17 million for '54.
